Ouch
1Today at church Noah got his hand pinched under a table and it cut him. We got home and cleaned it and put a Band-Aid on it, but Noah being 3 the Band-Aid was a toy and didn’t stay on. So Tyler put this stuff on him called new-skin, a liquid bandage that he can’t take off. Well it also has antiseptic in it to help heal. Noah really liked the idea of the cool Band-Aid, but as soon as it hit his cut he started crying, stinging – not fun. I took him and I blew on his hand for a while and every time I stopped he’d cry “no mommy keep blowing, it hurts.” I was getting tired of this so I asked him if he wanted a chocolate circle treat (mini York), if that would make him feel better. His response was “no mommy, circle treats aren’t for owie’s, they’re to eat.” I thought it was funny, and kinda clever. I guess I don’t need to worry about Noah emotionally eating.
Jane Austen… where have you been all my life
3Jane… where have you been all my life? Or better yet, how did I not about you? Well, I grew up with only boys. That’s one reason why I did not find Jane until now. About 9 years ago a roommate made me watch Pride & Prejudice (the Colin Firth, long A&E version). Seriously she sat me down and made me – I wasn’t that kind of girly movie girl. Then she laughed at me when I wanted to stay up all night to finish it. I don’t know if I knew that was Jane Austen– but I feel in love with it. Some time down the road I found the Sense and Sensibility movie. A few years later a different roommate turned me on the move Mansfield Park, which was great.
A few months ago I ran into a movie The Jane Austen Book Club. I really enjoyed this movie, but it pointed out to me that Emma was Jane – I had always loved that movie, but had no idea that was Jane. I decided to see what I could find of these last 2 books that I’d never heard of Persuasion and Northanger Abbey. I found them, and also loved them. So I have found Jane, sadly so far only in the movies. But if the movies are this fun, I’m excited to read the books.
5k
3Last Saturday I ran my first 5k of the summer. I know these races don’t have seasons, they happen all year round. But I’m a much better running in summer than winter – so I see summer as the race season. Someday I’ll become hard core and run all year round.
The 5k was the Flight For Sight, located at Boeing in Everett. It’s to raise money for guide dogs. The only other race I’ve done was a pretty big race. So when I got there and saw how low key it was I was kinda disappointed, mostly because no swag. Also they didn’t have as many people, so for most of the race I was running by myself. Running in the big crowed last time really helped push me. But it was a cool run. The weather was perfect, overcast not too hot not too cold. At one point we ran by what looked to be an airplane grave yard. They didn’t have the most sophisticated way to time us. So I didn’t know my time until today. Plenty of people at the finish line before me so I didn’t think too much of it. I knew my time was around 31 minutes, which I figured was somewhere in the middle, and not being able to run for about 3 week before I was plenty happy with that. My group left early, they were giving out medals to the top 2 people of different age groups, but we weren’t there. So I went to breakfast with my friend. It was yummy.
Today I thought about checking my time. I pull up the website… and to my astonishment… I came in 2nd for my age group!!! So what if there are only 6 ladies in my age group
I still would have gotten a medal! Oh well

Part Monkey
0Our Landon is part Monkey and has no fear.
He discovered that if he climbs into the 2 drawer up from the bottom he can reach things on the kitchen counter much better.
Computer Junkies
0A few months ago Tyler got these kid games for the computer. I know some people may think it’s too young to get your kids hooked on the computer. But you need to remember where these kids come from, Tyler is part computer. It amazes me how well Noah can control the mouse at 2 ½.
