I love Jane Austen's writing. I love the movies as well, but the books are much better. She is one of my favorite novelists (and I've read a lot of so-called "classics"). Although, I read the books first, so that might make a difference. I hope the movies haven't spoiled the books for you! If memory serves me correctly, Emma was my favorite read. There is also an "Emma" sequel, written by someone else.... which was interesting, but maybe not so worth the read. : ) I’ll have to disagree with Mindy. I love Jane Austen’s writing. I'm not being snobby, just thought you'd like to know. I love watching these movies as well. Persuasion is my favorite, but the theatrical version from the '90s with Cyrian Hyndes. Check it out. I bet you'll love it. I also love the new BBC Sense and Sensibility. If you love these, you should check out the mini-series adapted from Elizabeth Gaskell Novels. They are, I must say, even better! These include North and South, Wives and Daughters, and Cranford (this last one is not the best, but sweet and fun). I have to admit, although people seem to think this is shameful, that I like Jane Austen's storylines, but I'm not totally in love with her writing. The books are all worth writing, but she is not my favorite classic novelist. I'm excited to hear what you think!
