Running
2I’ve got a 5K coming up in June, so I know I need to be training for this. But for some reason I’ve been totally lacking motivation. Sleep continues to win every morning. And on the few days I do get out there I’m not pushing. Last summer I was so motivated – I did so good. I’m not sure what’s up. Part of it is I’m afraid to get so far then hurt my foot again and start going backwards once again.
I got caught up on the Biggest Loser this week. I love that show – total inspiration. So, Saturday I went running – I go 2 miles out turn around and come home. So it’s a total of 4 miles with some crazy hills. Right now I can only run out, walk the hills and walk home. But this Saturday as I was about to give up and walk home – I heard Jillian in the back of my head… “I want you to feel this uncomfortable all the time!” I start thinking about this and realize if I’ve ever going to improve I have to push it and feel uncomfortable. I ended up running about half the way back. And it felt great! I remembered why I like running – it’s the pushing, feeling the progress and accomplishing it. I’m starting the summer with a 5K in June and I’m hoping to do a 10K by the end of summer.
I know running isn’t for everyone. It’s hard, and I know it sucks – but for me it’s empowering.
One of those days
2Do you ever have one of those days? Sure the kids are cute and cuddly, but the whine and they cry, and they wake you up in the middle of the night. They want you to do everything… “no, mommy do it”. It’s Saturday! Daddy can do it… “no, mommy do it”. And the snot! The snot just doesn’t stop! I’m so tired of the runny noses – seriously, how long can a cold really last!
I’m just venting – I love the kids. They are cute and cuddly. They make me smile and laugh. I love the hugs, kisses and cuddles. But the next one really needs to come with a pause button and automatic nose wiper.
Almost 24 hours of excitement (warning – potty training story)
1Wednesday night after bath time, Noah was running around the house naked like normal. But this time he decided to pee on the kitchen floor. Tyler stopped him and I took him to the toilet. We had a little talk about it not being ok to pee on the floor, he needs to do it in the potty or in the diaper. And I told him if he did it in the potty he could have a treat… chocolate. He got all excited and did the rest of his potty in the toilet.
Long story short, he went again in the toilet before bed, woke up dry and went again in the toilet. He went potty before his nap and woke up dry. He did so well, I let him wear his Buz Lighter underwear. I made sure he knew because he was in underwear he had to tell me when he needed to go, and if he peed in his underwear he’d have to go back to a diaper. All evening and through dinner he was drinking a lot and I kept asking him if he needed to use the potty each time the answer was no. Then I noticed him standing in the kitchen holding himself. I asked him if he needed to go potty, he said no and looked sad. I asked if he went potty he said yes. I took him to the toilet so he could try on the potty, and figured he should have another chance in underwear – he was just too distracted.
We had the chat, let mommy know if you need to go… like 10 minutes after we got out of the bathroom he was standing there holding himself again. He had peed in his chair. GRRRR! We were just on the potty. We kinda freaked out a little bit on him. I put him back in the diaper and told him he couldn’t have his cool underwear anymore because he wet them. And from that point on he has had no desire to go pee pee in the potty. I keep asking, he keeps saying no. I hope we weren’t too hard on him.
Brothers or Cousins?
2Sometimes when I watch Noah and Kaden (they are cousins) I think that they could be brothers. And it’s not that they look similar. From the start they have had this special bond. It’s so much fun to watch them – and to think that even though Noah is the oldest, he’s got an older brother to look up to.

Kids + Workouts = Frustration
0I had plans to wake up at 6:30 this morning and go running. What I didn’t realize is Landon had decided to wake up at 6:20 to play. So once again my workout gets put off. It’s really hard to make any progress when I can’t get consistent workouts. And it’s so frustrating for me not to be making any progress! I’ve decided to run another 5k in June, which I’m not ready for. So I have come to the realization that in order for me to run or workout daily I will have to wake up at 5:30. Now I just need to talk myself into it.
My Little Super Hero
3For Christmas Noah’s Aunt Robin and Uncle Digger made this awesome super hero cape. So about once a day Noah comes up to me with the cape saying his going to fly. I put it on him and he runs around the house yelling Super Noah, or Buzz Lightyear! I know Buzz doesn’t have a cape, but he feels more like buzz if he has it on.
My List of Cute Stuff
0So as many mothers know with children comes memory loss. Knowing that I will forget to write blogs about the cute things my boys do I came up with this great idea to keep a little list. New problem I forget to blog them. So here are a few things on my list:
- The first time I put overalls on Landon Noah called him a farmer for half the day.
- I think it’s really cute and funny that Landon snores and talks in his sleep.
- Warning – diaper story. Most people know I can’t smell, never been able to. This makes knowing when to change a diaper more challenging than most.About 3 months ago I was playing with the boys and Noah stopped me and said “Mommy, Lanny’s poopy.” He does this every so often now, which is very helpful. Sometimes though he tells me Landon’s poopy when he’s the one who is.
- Noah loves to play with backpacks or other bags of mine. One day I found him with bag I used for church when I was pregnant with Landon. He had it over his shoulder running around. He’d pull out old papers pretend to look through them and put them back. No big deal. All of a sudden he takes off to his room with the bag. This should have set off an alarm in my head. About 5/10 minutes later I start thinking it’s been way to quite in there. I go and take a look… he found an old travel sized thing of Tums smoothie (the good kind). He loves them, and by the time I found him he had eaten most of them. I love that he knew I wouldn’t let him have them so he knew to hide to eat them.
- One night after dinner, Tyler and I were cleaning up and Noah and Landon were playing by the glass door. We hear Noah talking about panda bears. He’s got an excellent imagination so we don’t think anything of it. A bit later, we’re hanging out in the front room and we see these raccoons looking though the glass door. I call for Noah to come out of his room to see the raccoons. When he comes out and I point them out he says, yeah – the panda’s. I love that in Noah’s head we had panda’s living in our back yard. He’s fine with them being raccoons though.
